Fa-la-la-Felt!

This is my last week hosting the challenges for OCC, it's been a blast seeing the amazing creations every week.

This week is a simple but fun challenge, use felt or flocking on your project!

My colour scheme is Whisper White, Marina Mist and Peach Parfait - a little twist on the classic blue and yellow combo.

I've used my jumbo scallop die-namic to die cut a border out of craft felt. I love the added texture felt gives a card!

The stamps and dies are all from MFT stamps. I've added one of those spiral clips that everyone probably has sitting around on top of the button/bow treatment. This is a big 5x5" card.
I hope you'll stop by and see what the ever-so-creative OCC team has in store this week.

I'm taking a blogging break until the end of January to spend time with my gorgeous husband and family - I may pop in once or twice, but I'm not planning on it. We're heading off to beautiful Rotorua for a couple of nights and have lots of other fun summer activities planned.

Merry Christmas, hope yours is wonderful, and have a very happy New Year - see you in 2011!

Merry Christmas!

From the birdie in the tree and me!

Thank you so much for your visits to my little blog during 2010 - the comments always make my day, and I hope that as I'm inspired by other crafters, you're sometimes inspired by me! Here's to a creative 2011!

Naughty or Nice?

Hi everyone, I was editing some photos today and thought I better show you my last Christmas card of the year before the festive season is over!

I made this one for my Sister and her soon to be husband, and apparently I made it mid November because I used Mojo 165 for the sketch which was current at the time!
I did make one small change before sending the card - I changed the decorative border to plain Real Red cardstock to give it a little more "pop".

My colour combo is Whisper White, Chocolate Chip and Real Red - a little different but still Christmassy.

I used a little glitter pen on the letter for some subtle sparkle and the background paper is flocked.
Inside is the cute sentiment and the die-namic border again, don'tcha think it looks better in a bold colour?

This past week has been lovely with my not-so-little-anymore brother Leroy staying. Ever since he was a wee tike we've found him sleeping in some strange positions....but after a long day of watching Labyrinth on DVD (still love that movie!) I found him like this.....

Doesn't look comfy does it?

I have a post or two scheduled for Christmas day (in NZ), until then enjoy this special time of year!

Emboss with Colour

Whew....it's been a busy week, but I'm happy to report all my Christmas shopping is done and dusted (I can't say the same for Shanan who has to brave the mall tonight!) and everything is ready for Leroy to arrive tomorrow! Now get ready....it might be winter in your corner of the world, but you might need your sunglasses for this one...
This week I'm challenging everyone at OCC to add some colour to your dry embossing. You can pre-ink your embossing folder or use a brayer/sponge to dab on ink after you've embossed.

I like to use a brayer - you get the most even ink coverage that way. There are two embossed and inked elements on this card, the polka dot background and the flower which was embossed, inked then die-cut.

My colour combo is Melon Mambo, Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, Pumpkin Pie and Wild Wasabi - it's a little retro don't you think?
I've also added a little sparkle to the outer edges of the rose petals by using Cinnamon Stickles - I like to apply it with a rubber brush, but a toothpick would work too.

If you're not TOO busy I hope you'll stop by and join in at the OCC this week - as well as taking a peek at what the other girls came up with!

Christmas Decor Cheaply!

Hi everyone - are you getting excited for Christmas yet? My little brother arrives on Sunday for a five week stay and we can't wait, I think I might have more anticipatory butterflies than he does!

I got to spend the day with my two favouritest (just trust me....that's a word, yup, nothing being made up here!) lovely ladies today....lots of talk, good coffee, yummy food, shopping and Christmas pressies - fun! I picked up a couple of bargains and using those with a couple of recycled packinging items I got today, I created some quick Christmas decor this afternoon.

I grabbed some baker's twine at Kikki.K and it came in this gorgeous bag....
way too cute to throw out right? So I decided to cut out one of the images and pair it with a pretty frame Mum gave me last Christmas.

Awwww, they're in love! (that's my story anyway)

I also fed my Coke Zero addiction with one of those adorable little glass bottles...and it turned into this...
I had picked up the pebbles for another project, and the twig is from our garden. I coated it in Mod Podge then some Martha Stewart glitter in Onyx that I got on sale today...yippee. I really like the way the twig turned out, so much so that I just left it plain. The ribbon and button are from SU!

I'll leave you with a little game of spot the photo shoot guest stars!

Time to get Sketchy!

Hi everyone - it's time for another OCC challenge!

This week I've created a sketch that will be perfect for that last minute special Christmas card, or get started on your stock of cards for next year like I have!
Lots of layers to play with on this one!
I've used designer series paper in this year's In Colours, the girl's dress is paper pieced and I used a glue pen to add glitter to her crown. My colour combo is Very Vanilla, Pear Pizzazz, Blushing Bride and Peach Parfait.
Inside I've used more of the fun papers to tie it all together. Head on over to the OCC and see what the team has done with this weeks sketch - we hope you'll play along!

Christmas Tags

Hi everyone - hope your December is going well - not long till Christmas now!

I thought I'd quickly share my Christmas tags for this year - I've kept them really simple. My colour scheme is Gold and Vanilla - and to make it even easier I've used offcuts of the wrapping paper I'm using as the background paper.
The tag image is from the Gifted set and it's embossed with gold powder.
Have a great weekend - see you tomorrow with my OCC card!

Lovin' from the Oven...

Yippee - TGIF! We're hoping for some warm weather this weekend to get some work done in the yard and head out to see a couple of museums. Lots of relaxing to be had this weekend and I can't wait!

In the meantime stamping is relaxing too!
This is my entry for this week's WSC challenge - to use a food/kitchen theme.

It's all pretty self explanatory I think - the image is paper pieced and I've added some Crystal Effects to the bowl.
I decorated and stamped the inside of the card too - I love that sentiment!

Blogger has a habit of making some photos look blurry - you can always click the photo to see the original size.
